OUR OLD ENGLISH FINGER-POST SIGNS NOW STAND AS THE GATE GUARDAINS OF OUR PRECIOUS RURAL COUNTRYSIDE

 

They clearly define the historical borders between what remains of the largely unspoilt 1950's Old England of Sir John Betjeman and the ongoing threat of all of us one day being concreted and tarmacked over by an unthinkable Great Urban Metropolis sized City called Great Britain with a population set to expand well beyond 100 Million People within just a few decades from now.  With our precious Greenbelt open countryside now always in the ambitious sights of quick profit developers our finger-post signs clearly mark the limits to the ugly tentacles of modern metric, endless characterless, house building developments now becoming a real blot on the landscape.

This is why we need to be rid of all of the modern sign clutter so that we can reclaim our rural lanes and reinstate our historical street furniture from the best of our yesterdays.
