This is one of a set of three of our classic finger post signs at Sheffield Park Station in Sussex. Lord Sheffield once lived next to this LB &SCR branchline line steam railway station at Sheffield Park where milk churns used to be loaded onto the Lewes to London steam trains from the local Sheffield Park Dairy. This is also the location of the Ouse Valley Canal where 11 million bricks were delivered by barge from Lewes in order to build the famous Balcombe Viaduct back in 1841
A little tank engine approches Trumpton Railway Station from the north in reality the engine sheds at Sheffield Park
Plumpton Signal Box was built by the LB&SCR back in 1891 & situated at the very heart of rural Trumptonshire & still employs a signal box man to hand crank the handle to open & close the old wooden level crossing gate.
