Our Classic All Hardwood Ditch Rail Fencing
Perfect For Converting Your Rural Roads Back Into Charming Country Lanes
This is our classic all hardwood ditch rail fencing that can be found throughout the labryinth of the Sussex Lanes, we supply & install it planed, sanded & painted with Zinsser high contact primer & Sadolin air breathing paint. the rails are fixed with oak dowels & the posts are beddded into a granite foundation that both secures the posts as well as preventing the posts from contact with the damp Wealden clay that causes timber to rot.
This type of fencing is used for both old stone bridges & ditches along the narrow country lanes where the modern metal barriers would not be in keeping in a conntryside enviroment. I should also mention that they have a very long life span & are not expensive to repair or refurbish. We consider that this type of rural lanes fencing should be used in the same areas as our cast metal & wooden finger post signs as they both really blend into a rural landscape
Our All Hardwood, Seasoned, Construction Grade Ditch Rail fencing Is Planed, Sanded & Painted With Four Coats Of Air Breathing Sadolin Paint On Top Of Two Coats OF Zinsser Stain Block Primer
We Use Oak Dowels TO Fix The Rails To The Mortices
We Install All The Posts Into A Granite Drainage Foundation Which Dramatically Extends The Life Of The OAK Posts As It Allows The Timber to Breath & Keep Dry Below Ground Level. It Also Provide Excellent Support For The Posts.
The Traditional All Hardwood Sussex Ditch Rail Fencing Really Does Look So Much More In Keeping With A Rural County.
Our classic all hardwood ditch rail fences can turn your normal fast road back into a country lane as they have a traffic calming influence on the motorist. It is also known that finger post signs achieve the same result in slowing down the passing traffic as drivers are in the mind set of driving along a country lane.
Now doesn't this look so much more in keeping in the countryside than modern black & white metal barriers
We should not allow our country lanes to expand into fast cut through GPS routes for commercial traffic
