Cast Metal Street Nameplate Complete With Bevelled Oak Backing Board & Posts
We are involved in a major programme to refurbish existing cast metal & pressed metal street nameplates in areas of historical value as these old signs help retain the heritage look to any architecturally important period high street. This not only looks stunning but it's so much cheaper than the tacky modern replacements that really look out of place in historical towns & villages throughout our green & pleasant land.
Another service we offer is the replication of any of these original signs. We pickle the original donor sign clean to achieve maximum definition then the sign is used as a pattern to produce a resin copy which then becomes the master pattern. This is then placed into fine casting sand where it is injected with CO2 to freeze it solid so that the sand is not disturbed. The result is that a very high definition copy is then produced making it an exact clone of the original sign.
In a high street where only one original sign remains we can use that sign to produce a matching set of 2 or more signs.
We then have them prepared, etched primed and powder coated to a deep base white then we use a specialist high contact cellulose primer to bond to all the embossed features followed by two coats of an exterior black enamel gloss.
This is so much more environmentally friendly than replacing these old classic signs with the ugly signs made from recycled tyres that warp out of shape during the hot Summer periods. They look so very modern & urban & totally out of place in our historical towns & villages.
We made this attractive street nameplate for a film set which has been used in many great movies such as the Railway Children, Poirot, Sherlock Holmes & many other television productions shown around the world.
We produce this embossed cast sign made from military grade non-corrosive LM6 alloy, These street nameplate signs are then etched primed & top coated in hardened enamel in contrast black on white. The oak backing board is bevelled, planed & sanded. The oak posts are also planed, sanded & bedded into a granite stone foundation.
We also specialise in restoring street nameplate signs in situ, either wall mounted or on timber supports, If you only have one of these signs in your village & would like a matching set of four, we can make reproduction signs as good as the original. Just post your original cast signs to us sandwiched & taped between two planks of softwood for either refurbisment or replication.
These rural street nameplates really do add character to any village in the same way that our attractive, rural period finger post signs do, in fact it is so rewarding to see these attractive character cast village nameplates used in the same village as our vintage finger post signs as it just adds that special finishing touch to create the perfect Miss Marple English village.
